South African Adventure

This exciting tour of South Africa’s Cape Region travels through some of the most beautiful and iconic scenery the country has to offer, following the Garden Route from Cape Town to Knysna.

You will see game parks and wildlife rehabilitation projects, stunning scenery and beaches, penguins and seals. Its a real trip of discovery and contrast.

  • Day 1

    Depart from the UK

    You depart on a flight from the UK to Cape Town.

  • Day 2

    Arrive in Cape Town

    You arrive in Cape Town this morning and after hotel check in you have a short historical tour of the city tracing the history from the Portuguese and Dutch settlers to the British then independence. The tour includes the colourful Bokaap - Cape Malay district and the V&A Waterfront.

  • Day 3

    Cape Peninsular Tour

    Today you enjoy a tour of the Cape Peninsular including Clifton, Camp's Bay and Hout's Bay. You also go on a boat cruise to Seal Island to observe the colony of Cape Fur Seals. Following this you follow the scenic Chapman's Peak drive to the Cape of Good Hope. After lunch you head to Boulders Beach to see the African penguin colony and end the day with a traditional Cape Malay dinner.

  • Day 4

    Robben Island and Table Mountain

    This morning you take a boat trip to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. Returning to Cape Town after lunch you visit the Two Oceans Aquarium to see marine life from the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. Later in the afternoon you ascend Table Mountain for a bird's eye view of the peninsula. Dinner at a local restaurant is followed by a trip up Signal Hill to see the city lights.

  • Day 5

    Whale Watching at Hermanus

    This morning you travel outside Cape Town to Hermanus for a whale watching boat trip. This is the whale watching capital of the world, and we hope to sight the endangered Southern Right, Humpback, Brydes and Orca whales in Walker Bay (NB. this tour is July - November only). On our return we can stop for a pleasant trail hike at the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens which are rich in species diversity,

  • Day 6

    Travel the Garden Route to Knysna

    Today we have a full day of travelling along the Garden Route to the town of Knysna, passing through the Stellenbosch wine producing district and the historic town of George. The Garden Route is a beautiful and scenic drive and on arrival at Knysna we will have time to stroll along the waterfront and buy souvenirs at the many craft stalls.

  • Day 7

    Full day in the Knysna area

    We begin at the Featherbed Nature Reserve and a short nature walk and lunch under indigenous Milkwood trees. After lunch we take part in a traditional drumming workshop and can enjoy a South African braai (barbeque) for dinner, followed by a night walk through the local indigenous forest studying the nocturnal animals that live there.

  • Day 8

    Zip Line Tour & Plettenberg

    This morning you can enjoy an exhilarating zip line Tree Canopy Tour in the Tsitsikamma forest. You next visit the largest primate rescue sanctuary in Southern Africa where monkeys, apes and lemurs roam freely. After lunch there is time to relax at your hotel before a late afternoon swim or walk at Plettenberg Bay.

  • Day 9

    Knysna Elephant Park

    Today you visit Knysna Elephant Park for a lesson on elephants and an opportunity to touch and feed these gentle giants. In the afternoon you travel back to Cape Town and the International Airport for your flight back home taking with you memories to last a life time.

    Arrive Home

    Your flight arrives back home today
