  • Day 1

    Depart from the UK

    Overnight flight from the UK to India

  • Day 2

    Arrival in Delhi

    You arrive in Delhi this morning where you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel. After time to relax you will have a short afternoon guided tour which will include the hectic bazaars of Old Delhi and the Jama Masjid Mosque. We will also have a chance to view the Raj Ghat memorial to Mahatma Gandhi before returning to our hotel.

  • Day 3

    Delhi – Jaipur

    This morning you will visit the famous Red Fort, situated beside the Yamuna River. You also see India Gate and the Parliament House, designed by Lutyens. In the afternoon you depart by road for Jaipur. You stop en-route in a small Indian village to see the culture and lifestyle of the villagers. This evening you arrive in Jaipur and check into your hotel.

  • Day 4

    Jaipur

    This morning your first visit will be to the Amer Fort, the former capital of the Rajputs. Situated on a hillside overlooking Maotha Lake, you will have the unique experience of travelling on elephant back to the top of the hill on which the fort is situated. Following this you will briefly visit the Hawa Mahal, the famous Palace of Winds. The afternoon is spent at the City Palace, the former royal residence. Later this afternoon you can explore the local bazaar.

  • Day 5

    Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri - Agra

    After an early breakfast you depart for Agra, stopping along the way to visit Fatehpur Sikri. Built by the Emperor Akbar, Fatehpur Sikri was the capital of the Mughal Empire for only 10 years before being abandoned. This afternoon you arrive in Agra and transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the afternoon will be free to spend relax at your hotel.

  • Day 6

    Agra – Varanasi

    This morning you visit the Taj Mahal, built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as a mausoleum for his beloved wife Mumtaz. No photographs can prepare you for the first sight of the Taj Mahal which fully deserves its reputation as India’s most iconic and exquisite building. After time to explore at leisure, you continue to Agra Fort, built by the great Mughal Emperor Akbar. This evening you transfer to the train station for an overnight journey in soft sleeper class on the Marudhar Express to Varanasi. (Alternatively, air travel is possible).

  • Day 7

    Varanasi & Sarnath

    This morning you arrive in Varanasi where you will transfer to your hotel for rest and relaxation. In the afternoon you make a short excursion to Sarnath where Buddha delivered his first sermon after attaining Nirvana. Your guide will explain the concepts of Buddhism from its early founding. In the evening you return to Varanasi

  • Day 8

    Varanasi – Fly To New Delhi

    Very early in the morning you go down to the ghats for a boat ride on the River Ganges to witness the sunrise and see the local people worshipping and bathing at the Ghats. You return to the hotel for breakfast and then there is a city tour which will visit local temples and places of spiritual significance. Around lunchtime you transfer to the airport for the flight to Delhi.

  • Day 9

    Delhi to London

    This morning you transfer to the airport for the flight back to the UK which normally arrives the same day.
