  • Day 1

    Depart from the UK

    You depart from the UK for the overnight flight to Delhi

  • Day 2

    Arrive Delhi - Train to Amritsar

    Arrive in Delhi this morning and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon sightseeing programme in Old Delhi including the Red Fort, Raj Ghat and Jama Masjid Mosque.

  • Day 3

    Train to Amritsar

    Morning in Delhi, visiting the Qutab Minar, the Parliament House and India Gate . Time permitting you can also visit the Bangla Sahib Sikh Temple. In the afternoon you transfer to the railway station for the express train to Amritsar. On arrival you transfer to your hotel.

  • Day 4

    Amritsar

    This morning you visit the Golden Temple, the Sikh's most holy place. In the afternoon you can see the Jallianwala Bagh where a bloody massacre occurred during the days of Empire, and in the evening visit the Wagha Border Crossing for the famous 'Retreat' ceremony.

  • Day 5

    Amritsar to Dharamsala

    This morning you drive to Dharamsala in the foothills of the Himalaya. The Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama has made his base here for his Tibetan government in exile. The journey from Amritsar takes at least 5 hours by road, and after arrival there will be time to explore Dharamsala and the adjoining town of McLeod Ganj.

  • Day 6

    Dharamsala

    Today is spent in Dharamsala where you can visit several Tibetan sites including the Dip Tse Chokling Monastery and the Norbulingka Institute where traditional Tibetan handcrafts are preserved.

  • Day 7

    Dharamsala to Pathankot

    In the morning you can go on a guided hike in the Himalayan foothills to the village of Bhagsu. Along the route you will see traditional Buddhist stupas as well as monks who go to the mountains to meditate. In the afternoon you transfer to Pathankot for the overnight train to Delhi.

  • Day 8

    Arrive Delhi - Travel to Agra

    Your train arrives in Delhi in the morning and after time to freshen up you continue by road to Agra. Located on the banks of the mighty Yamuna River, Agra is famous the World over for the Taj Mahal.

  • Day 9

    Taj Mahal

    This morning you visit the Taj Mahal which was built by the Muhal Emperor Shan Jahan as mausoleum for his wife. You can also visit Agra Fort before transferring by road back to Delhi and your hotel.

  • Day 10

    Fly home

    Your flight departs from Delhi this morning and arrives back home the same day.
