  • Day 1

    Fly to Berlin - East Side Gallery

    Today you fly from Berlin where you will be met by a private coach and transfer into the city centre. Your first visit is to the Berlin Wall at the so-called East Side Gallery. This is a one mile preserved section of Wall made famous more recently by the varied street art and graffiti which it now supports, including the iconic 1991 painting of former East German leader Erich Honecker kissing Soviet President Leonid Brezhnev. You then continue to your accommodation for check in.

    In the afternoon you visit the Berlinische Galerie. Exhibitions are regularly updated with the latest works from emerging Berlin artists. The gallery also has a permanent collection dating from 1870 which covers varied and turbulent periods in German history including Expressionism, Berlin Dada and Art in the Nazi era

  • Day 2

    Berlin Walking Tour - Gallery of Contemporary Fine Arts

    This morning you do a guided Berlin walking tour which explores many of the key historic sites spanning the Nazi era and the Cold War period, including the famous Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie, After lunch you visit the Gallery of Contemporary Fine Arts situated in a minimalist space on the river and opposite the German History Museum. The gallery has been presenting idiosyncratic art by well-known international contemporary artists from around the world since 1992. Showcasing cutting-edge art in a variety of media, the CFA keeps a close watch on the art world by displaying thought-provoking, immersive works and it has built up a reputation as a trendsetter in the international art industry.

  • Day 3

    Berlin East Side

    This morning you visit the Old National Gallery which showcases a superb collection of neoclassical, romantic, impressionist and early modernist artwork. Also located in this area are the Pergamon Museum which houses ancient Roman & Greek art and also the Bode Museum which contains a collection of sculpture & Byzantine art. In the afternoon you can visit the fascinating DDR Museum which documents life for ordinary East Germans during the period that the country and city was divided. In the early evening you travel to the top of the Fernsehturm, the famous Berlin TV Tower which dominates the city in what was formerly East Berlin, where the visitor platform offers a tremendous view across the city.

  • Day 4

    Hamburger Bahnhof Museum

    In the morning you visit the Hamburger Bahnhof Museum located in a beautiful former nineteenth century train station. It houses a collection from the Berlin entrepreneur Erich Marx including Beuys and Rauschenberg, Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol whose iconic Mao portrait is on permanent display here. In the afternoon you have a boat cruise on the River Spree which gives you the chance to see Berlin from a new perspective. If time permits you can visit the iconic Olympic Stadium which was used for the 1936 Olympics, before continuing to the airport and your homeward flight.
