  • Day 1

    Fly to Krakow

This morning you depart by air to Krakow airport. On arrival you are met by your guide and private coach and transfer to your hotel for lunch. In the afternoon there will be a half-day walking tour of Krakow. Having escaped major destruction during World War II, the city retains its charming medieval charm. City life is focussed around the central Market Square, the largest in Europe, where several of its architectural and cultural landmarks can be found. Opposite the Cloth Hall is St Mary’s Church, world famous for its elaborate carved altar. The walking tour will include St. Mary’s Church & Wawel Cathedral, the Royal Tombs and Sigismond’s Bell Tower. Dinner in the evening will be at restaurant.

  • Day 2

    Visit to Auschwitz

After breakfast in the hotel you transfer for about an hour to Auschwitz-Birkenau. No preamble is necessary and during your visit you will see the flower strewn Death Wall, the national memorials, the railway line, crematoria and remains of the hundreds of barracks, a moving testimony to the number of lost lives through Nazi activities across occupied Europe. Our visit also includes a film showing the camp’s liberation in 1945.

In the afternoon you return to Krakow for an afternoon cruise on the Vistula River which takes you to the Benedictine Abbey in Tyniec, perched on a limestone outcrop by the river’s edge. You have time to explore and can stop for dinner on your return journey.

  • Day 3

Krakow Jewish Quater & Wielicka Salt Mine

This morning you have a tour to the Jewish Quarter of Kazimierz where you see a plethora of lively cafes and restaurants but you also learn about the tragic events of the past and the Warsaw Ghetto. You visit places which are now just remnants of the once rich Jewish history of Krakow. The tour includes a visit to the former Emalia Factory of Oskar Schindler, the German industrialist credited with saving thousands of Jewish workers and commemorated in the film Schindlers List.

After your visit transfer to Wieliczka where you have a guided visit to the famous salt mine situated 135 metres underground and which is a UNESCO world heritage site. The mine, which has been working since the 12th century, played an important role in the economic development of the city and this is the only salt mine in the world preserved in such a pristine condition.
