Peru Trips

Peru is one of the most geographically diverse countries in South America.

From the jungles of the Amazon to the snowcaped summits of the Andes to the high altiplano of Lake Titicaca, there is an incredible range of contrasting scenery. The country is famed for its fascinating Inca ruins and Spanish colonial heritage, and one of the country’s main attractions is undoubtedly the fabulous Inca Trail, leading to the lost citadel of Machu Picchu.

The country’s major cities, including Lima, Cusco & Arequipa, have beautifully preserved Spanish colonial architecture, some dating from the time of Pizarro’s conquest in the sixtenth century. In the north of the country, the Andes mountains rise in two principal chains – the Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Huayhuash.  These ranges offer superb trekking among the snow capped peaks which include Perus’s highest mountain, Huascaran, and the graceful pyramid of Alpamayo, thought by many to be the world’s most beautiful mountain. In the south of the country, Lake Titicaca offers a unique opportunity to see the famous floating reed islands, while in nearby Colca Canyon you can see native Condors soaring on thermals of warm air.
